Opening a Beer

So we all got a good laugh this morning when Sarah described her herculean efforts to open an Amstel Light.  For those who don't know... Sarah is alone in a completely empty apartment in Pittsburgh Pa finishing some shifts at the hospital before coming to sweden and then starting her fellowship at Johns Hopkins.  When I left the house (jonas) there was only a bottle of soy milk... some diet cola... a scattering of vegetables... and some frozed dinners in the freezer... even the rice had made it to Baltimore already...

This lack of food and a quiet empty apartment with no husband resulted in Sarah despirately wanting a year old amstel light that has been living in the fridge since the last party we threw some months ago... here in her words:

"so i just spent 20 minutes trying to open this last amstel light...we have no bottle opener, they are NOT twist offs...   i tried banging off the top on the counter like frat guys... then i tried using the cheese scraper... then i tried balancing 2 spoons and pushing one up and one down.... the i just kept shoving the end of the 1/4 cup metal measurer under the lid until finally i got the beer open! tht first sip was so rewarding! i figured i am working nights the rest of the week and then leaving to go to Baltimore, so i needed to have this beer. ahhhh!"

Sarah, this is one of my favorite postings!!! I can picture you clearly with the trapped beer beverage!!

Jonas - Anthony can attest to this husbandly duty - that of opening a beer or two.

love ya Sarah and Jonas - Aunt Fave.
