Meetings at Slottsskänken / Karlslund Herregård

Thursday afternoon we took the short drive to Örebro to arrange things for the rehearsal dinner and wedding receptions.  First we had the buffet at Slottsskänken to better understand the mood and the attributes of the place.  Then Andree, Nina and Robert spent about two hours going through the arrangements with our chef, Jonny Johansson.

Kurt and Jonas escaped for some walking on the town and a little coffee and tea.

Later in the afternoon we drove out the Karlslund Herregård to review details of the wedding reception with our host Ulf Jander.  All I can say is WOW!  The building is beautiful and is the perfect place to have a wedding reception.  The night will start at ~7:00pm down in the main hall with champagne and strawberries.  Once we all arrive we will proceed upstairs and to to eat and toast.  After the dinner we will again come down stairs to have wedding cake (traditional strawberries and cream cake), drinks, dancing and socializing.

Here is a description of the Herregård taken from the pamphlet:

"Karlslunds Manor House (KMH) and its gardens are a fascinating blend of natural and cultural history, only a stone's throw from the middle of Örebro.  KMH and the buildings belonging to it are intermixed with industrial history remains and parks and gardens several hundred years old to form a particularly impressive cultural and natural environment .... KMH was built between 1804 and 1809 by Christian Gunther.  In 1819 a later owner, Carl Anckarsvärd, had the manor house rebuilt and altered to the appearance we know today.  The architect behind this work was the famous Carl Christopher Gjördwell, who also furnished the upper storey of the manor house and laid out the beautiful park.  Gjördwell also had the Stora Salongen (Grand Saloon) decorated with rare French panorama wallpapers.  These show the most important ports of France and were hand printed c.1800.  They are among the oldest rolled wallpapers extant in Sweden."
